5 Common Beliefs About Blogging
Blogging has changed the way we look at the Internet, I’m sure of that. Not only do blogs provide extreme leverage for businesses, but they also allow us to earn money from them if we manage to break into this ground.
Despite the highs and lows of blogs, many people still harper beliefs that might stop them from getting started in the first place. To make sure you don’t fall prey to these misconceptions, read on.
Blogging is passe
Whoever told you this probably doesn’t even have a blog. Much like in MLM when people don’t understand the concept of the business idea they warn you off without having a clue on what it actually takes.
The same applies to blogging. People say “but blogging has been around forever, surely they don’t have the same effects anymore like some years ago.” Just look at the article about corporate blogging and how it can affect businesses.
Blogging isn’t reduced to Internet marketing. Far from it actually. In recent years it has become a popular past time for lawyers, dentists, politicians, gardeners, chefs, actors, musicians, corporations and just about anybody you can think of to blog.
Heck, even grandmothers blog these day. How cool is that!
So don’t be mistaken in thinking that it is too late to start blogging now. The revolution has merely started.
All the good ideas are already used
Don’t be fooled into thinking that you cannot come up with a great idea that will be an instant winner. Bloggers often make the same mistake and just follow the crowd. I know I did. At the time I thought it was cool to have a blog and write about Internet marketing, affiliate marketing and the like, even though I had no idea.
I had to learn the hard way and my blogging has slowly shaped itself to what I blog about today.
If you are only just starting out, great! You have a huge advantage - use it.
Think how you can be different than the pack and you will do well.
You need to be a tech geek to blog
Hell no you don’t. You learn as you go. I did. Noobies look at experienced bloggers and think they can’t do it. They are intimidated by the huge gap that lies between them and the established blogger. But I’ll let you in on a little secret.
There will always be bloggers who are more or less experienced than you, so please don’t make the mistake of thinking you can’t do it.
It’s too hard
To be honest, if you think this then it is. At least for you. Blogging isn’t hard at all. As a matter of fact it is extreme fun and very rewarding. I get huge satisfaction when people write to me because they have been touched by one of my blog posts.
It’s easy to make money
Actually it isn’t. Blogging doesn’t always need to be assimilated with making money anyway. Your blog can be your voice of reason, your teaching tool or even your personal diary. Either way, your intentions are not to make money but to help others.
That’s perfectly fine. I rather be a blogger who does something good for others than trying to scam them off with crappy adds that I’m not qualified to show in the first place.
The longer you blog, the more experienced you will become. Some people are experts the moment they start because they blog in a very small pond with plenty of interest in the market place.
If you are hoping to make money with your blog I strongly suggest you do it in an industry away from the “meta blogging industry”.

"One of My All-Time Top Affiliates..."

“I rather be a blogger who does something good for others than trying to scam them off with crappy adds that I’m not qualified to show in the first place.”
Trying to make money by placing ads isn’t a “scam”. People click ads when they see something relevant that they’re interested in. You know, similar to the ads you have on this site!
@ Jagdu: you misunderstood me and that is entirely my fault for not articulating properly what I meant by this statement.
Firstly, this site isn’t mine and Gobala (the owner) is well qualified to run whatever ads he chooses. I also know that running ads isn’t a crime, since it does pay you money right?
What I meant is that some bloggers run ads on products of which they have to clue about themselves and they are trying to sell you a product that pays you money for adsense when in reality they DON’T make money from adsense.
This in my humble eyes is hypocritical and I for one won’t go down that road. To be fair though I have to say that I did when I was a blogging noobie because I didn’t know otherwise.
Now that I do know, I won’t do this anymore. Full stop.

Nice post! I´m happy that you talk about “easy money making” with blogging. It´s possible to build a blog that over a long time period will pay your bills and much more, but it is not easy in any way.
Blogging for money should not be the main reason for starting a blog.I see nothing wrong in earning money from the blog if you write about things that you know a lot about if you can help people at the same time.
