@ Tom: yes, you are so right. It's funny you mentioned the blogging for money bit. I have been struggling with exactly that decision for some time on my own blog.

Do I accept advertisers or not? The whole purpose of my blog was to provide tons of value and free info that can help others and it just felt wrong to try to monetize it. While I do use occasional aff. links and have a couple in my sidebar, these are only products I wholeheartedly endorse and use myself.

But it is different to say, I do whatever else does and allow the common banner ads. For some reasons I still don't like this as I'd like to be different I guess. LOL

Nice post! I´m happy that you talk about "easy money making" with blogging. It´s possible to build a blog that over a long time period will pay your bills and much more, but it is not easy in any way.

Blogging for money should not be the main reason for starting a blog.I see nothing wrong in earning money from the blog if you write about things that you know a lot about if you can help people at the same time.

@ Jagdu: you misunderstood me and that is entirely my fault for not articulating properly what I meant by this statement.

Firstly, this site isn't mine and Gobala (the owner) is well qualified to run whatever ads he chooses. I also know that running ads isn't a crime, since it does pay you money right?

What I meant is that some bloggers run ads on products of which they have to clue about themselves and they are trying to sell you a product that pays you money for adsense when in reality they DON'T make money from adsense.

This in my humble eyes is hypocritical and I for one won't go down that road. To be fair though I have to say that I did when I was a blogging noobie because I didn't know otherwise.

Now that I do know, I won't do this anymore. Full stop.

"I rather be a blogger who does something good for others than trying to scam them off with crappy adds that I’m not qualified to show in the first place."

Trying to make money by placing ads isn't a "scam". People click ads when they see something relevant that they're interested in. You know, similar to the ads you have on this site!
