  • Blog Rush Makes Significant Improvements

    October 31, 2007 | By Gobala Krishnan |

Shortly after I posted about Blogrush failing to deliver on hype, John Reese announced Phase 2 of Blogrush with significantly improved reporting, stats and overall appearance. Finally, the changes came, but what exactly changed?

If you’re not a BlogRush user yet, you may want to read the following:

One change that I’m sure every BlogRush member would like is the new layout and appearance:

    blogrush-1

Yes, it looks clean and is much easier to navigate now, with all the important stats displayed on the front page itself in flash-based charts that look really good. Several other cosmetic changes were also done to the profile area, widget code area and the “My Blogs” area.

One the main page itself, you’ll see a new impression and clicks statistics for each individual blog post:

    blogrush-2

Now you can see which posts get the most clicks, and the actual CTR or Click-through Rate. Based on the diagram above, my best CTR (red flaming icon) is 0.17% and the worst (blue icon) is 0.04%, still below the 1% or more CTR most bloggers were hoping for.

The question of whether it’s worth putting the BlogRush widget on your site or not is still not answered. The space used to display the widget is important real-estate on any blog, and you can use it to sell ads, display user-based functions like the top commentators, or promote an affiliate program.

Now comes the other dilemma on BR:

“BlogRush only works for big-name bloggers, and the smaller blogs who cannot refer as many new BlogRush members cannot maximize the system. It’s the ones that get in first that win, just like a pyramid scheme.”

To answer this question, I must look at my stats, which have finally re-appeared after weeks. I will post all the stats in another blog post, once I get information from the people who referred me to BlogRush in the first place.

I’d be interested to see how you go Gobala. To be honest I lost interest with BR a while ago and even though they have approved me to their network - bow - I still can’t be bothered.

They should have launched properly with all these things in place as only the big blogs got some good traffic out of BR for the first month or so.

I suppose the future will tell but for now I’m staying BR free.

What is the positive side of this statement? Do you have any idea to make a conversion from this traffic? I think they (BR user) have no interest on our business. All they want to do is to visit our blog to find valuable information. Then they will use our information to improve their business. Am I wrong?
