Everyone wants to make money from their efforts in blogging, but not everyone want to make it look like they are. That’s why most bloggers are adverse to sales pages, optin-forms, pop-ups and other form of common “Web 1.0″ marketing methods which are seen as obtrusive and annoying.
I can’t say the same for the Stripe Ads plugin by Pawan Agarwal. All it does is put a clean, lean bar at the top of your blog with a single text link advertisement.
Besides using it to display an affiliate link or a link to your current promotion, you can also use it to:
- Draw attention to a certain post or page on your blog for example a contest page, your services or a poll.
- Show your disclaimers or Terms of Service (TOS)
- Display an announcement or important news
- Welcome new users and ask them to subscribe to your RSS feed (by displaying the ad for the first 3 visits or a particular user)
- Much, much more (use your imagination folks)
This is a free Wordpress plugin, and I was actually the person who helped Pawan create the documentation for it. The installation process is simple and I’ve encountered no problems whatsoever using it. I can’t think if a reason NOT to be using this plugin, unless you think having a single line of text on a highlighted bar at the top of your blog as “uncool” marketing.
