The recent Google slap has many bloggers in uproar and confusion of what to do next. From what has filtered through so far we know that TLA have taken a hit as well as the bloggers who sold text links by “dofollow“.
It’s a bit like playing the old waiting game in terms of seeing what will happen next. The question I have and would love to sort out is whether bloggers will get penalized for using services such as Pay Per Post and Review Me.
It seems that Google isn’t too happy from giving their spiders an unnecessary workout by trying to follow links from TLA. It seems it is a waste of their resources and therefore they clamped down on those bloggers who used TLA services for generating revenue.
The thing is that since we know this fact, how will it affect us in terms of doing paid blogging reviews for PPP and Review Me? Personally I have no idea, but from what I can gather, I have a feeling that it isn’t such a smart idea to keep doing these reviews right now.
It could bite us in the bum in the not so decent future.
The annoying part of this particular scene is that since I got my blog to a PR 3, my reviews are worth more money. I could easily make $30/day now doing those reviews, but for what price?
Is it better to hold off for now and play the waiting game, or should we risk getting slapped real hard next time around and loose PR and all credibility in the marketplace as a blog to possible advertisers.
My take is that if we could write reviews for those service with the rel=”nofollow” attached, we wouldn’t have to worry. But then, it would defeat the purpose of those advertisers trying to gain valuable backlinks.
What is your take on this? Do you feel that we should wait in caution, or should we not bother and just keep writing these reviews, even if we could potentially loose PR in the future?
Let us know!
Monika
