Hi Steven,

Although I don't yet have a blog and would want to start with some simple ideas, I've been thinking that once I'm more advanced in blogging I would like to start 2 different blogs and make it very interactive. I'm from the US and I'm a democrat. I know how heated and active people here become when it comes to politics. Whether they be democrat or republican or independent. I was thinking about starting one blog from the democratic perspective and one from the republican perspective and let the users post their thoughts and ideas. I have been to forums on both sides and I can tell you that there is much activity around this. Do you think something like this would work as there would be a lot of new content added by readers or no?

Anyway, just an idea for a future!
Thanks

Thank you for the reply. That is excellent that you think this is a good idea. I understand most blogs are done by politicians but what I envision is blogs made for the average citizen to make their comments. I think this would be a very active and interesting idea.

Maybe at some point when I am more confident in my blogging I can come to you for some help in constructing this idea? I appreciate your time Steven and look forward to any advice you might have.

Default Political blogs

Hi Kelmarz,

The thing you may want to consider about political blogs is the mix of monetization and credibility.

If you try to profit from all the controversy, people may accuse your intention of starting topics just to make money, and you may lose credibility.

I know of a person who has an extremely popular political blog in Malaysia, but to preserve his credibility he just cant afford to put Adsense etc on the blog. It's sad cause he gets about 30,000 visitors a DAY

On the other hand, if you want to get public recognition and probably run as a senator, it would be a great "monetization" strategy

Thanks for the reply Gobala,

I agree..politics is a touchy subject...but I was actually thinking..after I have achieved some time studying blogging and have a few blogs under my belt...the political blogs would actually be for my own use...in other words..I'm not necessarily using them to make money..but to further the thoughts of others in my country on our future..truly I have seen the reaction to blogs and forums here about our political system and I have participated and I do believe it to be a good forum to add ones thoughts and ideas for the future of our country. I would certainly not be opposed to making money from such a blog as this but this type of blog would be for my own satisfaction in helping others to voice their opinions in the world if that makes any sense?

I agree that one might not necessarily want to post adsense ads on such a blog in order to keep respect from others but I am truly eager to learn more in order to do this as I would enjoy seeing the postings from others here. I have enjoyed the activity of participating in these type situations and telling my opinion and I would like to hear others as well.

I guess this would be my "pet" project so to speak...for my enjoyment and not necessarily to make money. As I said, it would be something I might pursue in the future when I am more confident in what I am doing...until then I am content to learn all that I can.

Again, thanks for the reply.
