Another TrackBack Question

i have a blog running quite nicely and generating decent traffic. I keep getting requests to approve trackbacks. I have never quite understood the trackback thing so have always just deleted these unapproved, but now i'm starting to think i should find out what the hell they are.

The requests come from 3 other blogs regularly but all seem to have quick one line posts that repeat regularly. It feels to me like these are SPAM blogs especially as they link to a sales page for a related product. I guess i should sign up as an affiliate.

My question is if i approve these trackbacks will it help my traffic in any way or conversely can it do me any damage to approve them?

Any suggestions?

You aren't understanding what a 'trackback' is. For you the trackbacks are good as they are one-way links to your site.

Here is an explanation of trackbacks / pings...

and marking the trackacks as unapproved is marking the trackback notification to not appear in the comment section. You aren't canceling the posters link to your site.
