There's nothing wrong with using another name. It helps to preserver your expertise in a certain area as well.

For example, if you're an enpert in Karate, and you have a site about clothing for women, surely you're not going to use your real name as it might:

1) Create confusion - What are you an expert on really?
2) Erode your professionalism - Those who admired your Karate knowledge may not see you the same way again.

Alas, the world can only accept you as an expert in ONE field or several RELATED fields, even though you may be talented in many different areas.

Bottom line: If you're venturing outside your area or expertise (as you want publicly known) or if you have a reason like May does, it's better to use a pseudoname...
