Default Can't Edit Theme

I am using the adsense-ready theme.
I have changed .htaccess to 766 and 'themes' and 'plugins' parts of wp-content to 777.
However theme editor still says unwritable. Can anyone help, please.

Hi zyfert,

Did you just CHMOD the folder of 'themes' & 'plugins' or the file inside the folder as well??

Hi Steven,
I did the folder first and when that did not work, I went into the folder and changed the theme to 777 as well. Neither work for me.

OK got it working now by going into the adsense-ready theme folder and changing that to 777 and checking the sub box (apply changes to this folder, sub folder etc).

Hi there,

766 is good enough, don't put 777 as it is easy to get hacker attack your website or your host. The host will put you back to 666, 665 or any other settings by their default.
