Did you read thru this previous posting:-

It might help clear things up a bit.

Also, if you are just trying to install Wordpress onto your domain and you
have cpanel as your administrators tool. Check out to see if you have
got Fantastico as an option. If you have you might find that there is a
Wordpress auto install option setup in there and that makes it a whole
lot easier to get started.
