Default URL Question please

I am wandering if Gobala's ebook simply explains something...
I already have an wp account but I can't figure out howto have my sites main page URL w/o ie. mydomain.com/wordpress etc.
Does the ebook explain this? I've searched for this on wordpress but it is not too clear etc. [at least I can't find it] I am sure it's there however.

Thanks

Alan Young

Hi Alan,

What type of Wordpress account you have? Do you mean by your blog hosted in this format: youraccount.wordpress.com?

Gobala ebook is not about how to ultilising free hosted wordpress account. You need to have your own domain name website and an installed blog. For more info you can read the post here.

Hi,
Thanks. I do have my own domain and hosting thru godaddy.
On the domain WordPress › Error it says wordpress error etc. The .com/wordpress works fine [even though I haven't put any content up yet.]
I do really want to use wp because it seems pretty simple once it's figured out...
Thanks!

Are you installing the wordpress for twice? If you intend to re-direct the main page to the wordpress blog, you can actually go to your cpanel to do a temp redirect.

To follow the step below to re-direct your main page to blog page (if you blog is not installed on the main page):

Login cPanel ==> redirect ==> key in the destination to re-direct

Don't worry about the support. If the ebook doesn't give you any answer that you are looking at, you can always post in this forum as this is the support we are providing. We will try to help as much as we can.

Thanks for your compliement on my site...

Goodnite then.

Hi Kevin,
Thanks. OK...I guess I am saying I would like my domain to simply be the domain name w/o wordpress in it.
For example: Marketing Fueled By Purpose
www.whyhowto.com/about
www.whyhowto.com/info

I have seen some sites 'powered by wordpress' with only their domain and without blog or wordpress in it, But I haven't figured out how to do it etc. So I was/am wandering if the easywordpress ebook explains how to do so in a step by step format.
Thanks again.
Alan

Hi Alan,

Those blogs which don't have "power by wordpress blog" wordpress mostly custom design theme. While most of the themes you can get for FREE will require a backlink to the developer.

If you want to have your blog look exclusive and dont have the "power by wordprss blog", probably you need to hire someone to design for you. If you need that service, I can pass you the contact.

For easy wordpress ebook will talking in few area on how to make use of the wordpress blogging system to help you to create income. Download the FREE chapter now to get to know what is this book all about.

Thanks

Thanks...I'll try explaining my question again...
I dont't mind having "powered by wordpress" on the bottom of the page.
It's in the URL or actual domain name where I would prefer Not having it.
Thanks!
Alan

Owh, so you wanna your blog in www.yourdomain.com instead of www.yourdomain.com/wordpress?? If so, there is 3 way you can make it happen

1- Install wordpress in root folder, which is your "public html" folder in your ftp. So by default, when you call yourdomain.com it will open index.php of wordpress.

2- By reconfigure your blog address. Open your wp-admin and go to "options". There, you can define which is you installed wordpress directory and you wannabe called blog address. It can be different though. Let say you have installed your wordpress in yourdomain.com/wordpress . then just login to your admin panel-->options--> change the "blog adresss (URI)" to yourdomain.com . (i haven`t test it, it just from my reading at wordpress codex support forum)

3- Or you can do as Wordpress consultant explain earlier about "Redirection". It is simply tell the server to call yourdomain.com/wordpress when the browser call yourdomain.com . But the permalinks will still be the same.

regards..
