The Endless Google PR Rehash

The big PR debate on Google and why they drop PR across many high ranking sites seems to be going on forever and ever. Many website owners and bloggers complain about the action of Google as it drastically reduces some revenue streams for those involved.

My take on the subject is a little bit different. All though I can see that some website owners and bloggers are negatively affected by this, I would say why don’t we all stop our complaining and start acting instead?

By acting I mean to think outside the box in regards to finding ways of not to depend on Google’s mercy. We will never have the option of dismissing Google for what they are – unless of course somebody is big and gutsy enough to take them head on. But we do have other options, since last time I checked, Google wasn’t the only search engine to deal with.

I suggest we just start concentrating more on content and less on ad space.

Or else pump out more of our own developed stuff, using the available ad space instead.

Or approach offline businesses for ad revenue. Those guys aren’t particularly fazed by the whole PR debate.

Google seems to be threatened by social networking sites some say and this is very much possible. So why not those sites to our advantage instead.

Even if those ideas mightn’t be so good, they are merely a thought to provoke you into thinking of other ways to bring revenue to your blog without having to fret about Google.

Personally I think it’s just a little green bar that is managed by an orang utan at the Google mini museum. I stopped looking at the green bar a long time ago…

Although for this site, the PR seems to have remained at 4.

Worrying about pr is like worrying about big brother. On an individual basis there is little you can do to control what pr your site is awarded. It;s much more important to build a prospective customer and active customer base – it’s their vote that counts – because they vote in dollars. And they don’t care about PR but about getting the results they want.

Hehe,

I like all the little pet names we give Google. :-)
But you are spot on Kevin when you say that our customers and might I say our readers matter more than PR.
