Whether you’re developing plugins or themes or maybe just doing your rutin modification while on the move, installing your wordpress locally inside a USB drive could prove useful.

Installing a web server on your portable device (usb, ipod, etc) is more convenient since you can take it where ever you go and not only you can use with Wordpress but also other php/mysql powered sites or web applications.

ralph danza from ralph.fm have posted a pretty details instruction on how you can do this.

I have used XAMPP locally on my pc before, but never knew it can be used inside a USB drive.

for more info I suggest you check out ralph.fm now….

There is another solution called Webserver On A Stick (WOS) which I use for my wordpress development. However, its eating my virtual memory like crazy. Thanks for the alternative, will try and see how it goes.
