Cool New MyBlogLog Widget

While surfing the net today I came across a groovy MyBlogLog Widget I’ve never seen before. Upon doing some research I found that it can easily be installed by clicking on an existing one in the bottom of the left hand corner.

All you need to do is throw in your URL (provided you are already a member) and it will return the new code for you.

As you can see on the left, the new look sports a shiny glossy new surface that can be personalized with 7 colors and two layouts.

You can also elect on how you want the flyout to behave.

The styling options allow you to choose the width of your widget from 15-1200px wide and from 1-100 rows deep.

When you hover over a particular name (image) it will tell you how many sites this person has registered within their MyBlogLog profile.

With a click of your mouse you can now choose to add this person to your MyBlogLog contacts.

When you click on the small Grab This text on any site that sports the new widget, a new window (see left) opens. Type in your own URL and tick the no adult remark to get your own code.

Alternatively you can log into MyBlogLog and navigate to your widgets to style your own in the respective size and color.

That’s great. Thanks for pointing this out. I’ve incorporated this widget onto my blog. Of course, I then had to change the BlogCatalog color scheme to match MyBlogLog’s color scheme. My only complaint with the new iPhone look of the MyBlogLog widget is that there is no option available to make the background white.

Hi when i hit ‘grab this’ it asks for a path on the mybloglog page and i dont know what path they are talking about.

also, you mentioned going into widgets on the mybloglog site and styling your own. can you give more details on this? Or if someone knows, please reply.

I’m a newbie so sorry for the need for more detailed instructions.

@ Johnette: that path they refer to is your websites/blogs URL like http://www.yoursite.com

Then you just tick the box that states it isn’t adult content and it will throw the code back at you.

As for the widgets on the MyBlogLog page, when you are logged in there you see several links to things like “settings” “widgets” and “statistics” to the right of your little website thumbnail. (It’s in the left sidebar on the MyBlogLog page).

Now click on the one that says widgets and you can style this widget to fit on your site.

Thanks Monika. Question – from the mybloglog site, how exactly do i ’style’ it from this page. Once i hit ‘widgets’ all i see is a big box in middle of page with code. Not sure how to style.

@ Johnette: you should see 4 pull down menus where you can actually choose color, style, images and flyout information. You can also choose the width of the widget according to the width of your sidebar. Further to this, you can also choose the rows you want to show.

You know, there’s the problem. I never saw a page with that info. When i click on the widget link it takes me to a page with a box in the middle with code. No drop down boxes, etc. Can you possibly send me the url for the page you are talking about?

@ Johnette: no can do, since the link is when I’m logged into my own admin at MyBlogLog. But I’ll include some screen shots in the post above so you can see what I mean. Update, couldn’t do this as for some reason they come up all warped. I suggest you go to their help section http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/mybloglog/ to drill down why you canm’t see this. I find this very strange to be honest. Are you sure you are logged in at MyBlogLog (via Yahoo?)

Yeah im logged in via Yahoo. Those forums are annoying because its like digging for a needle in a haystack. I was on there for hours, which is why i came to this thread. If there is any info within your link that doesnt include your personal info but may give info on that page, let me know and thanks. I just cant figure where this is. If it wouldnt make sense, then donta worry about it. Appreciate your help.

@ Johnette: I sent you an email with the two screenshots attached. Hope this will clear up your problems.
