  • Ninja Affiliate: Turn Keywords Into Affiliate Links

    May 26, 2008 | By Gobala Krishnan |
This entry is part 2 of 5 in the series Affiliate Marketing with Blogs

NinjaAff-eCoverMedium Pawan Agarwal, who has previously released a lot of free plugins including the BlogRush Maximizer and the Psychic Search Plugin (among others) has been working his magic once again. This time, the result is Ninja Affiliate, a special WordPress plugin that lets you:

    • Convert any keyword in your blog into an affiliate link
    • Manage the amount of converted keywords / page
    • Manage and track unlimited links, with link cloaking
    • Create professional-looking redirect links
    • Enter affiliate links directly while writing a post

Ninja Affiliate is (pardon my bluntness) a much more advance version of WP Affiliate Pro, WP Cash Links and other similar affiliate marketing plugins for WordPress. One main advantage is complete, logical control over the amount of keywords converted. All the other tools make your blog look like a link farm, Ninja Affiliate does not.

Plus, you can assign multiple links to the same keyword, something which no other plugin or software is able to do. You can also choose to add a “no-follow” tag to your links if you don’t want to give up Google Juice via your affiliate links.

This is a really important tool for any blogger currently using WordPress, and with Ninja Affiliate you can easily put your blog monetization on autopilot. For the creative, you can also sell keyword links to advertisers or just use it as a tool to improve interlinking between your blog post or between different blogs.

In fact you can do just about anything you want. Sky’s the limit :)

    Looks like a great program.

there is also one called aLinks, which seems to do a lot of the same things.

Great Job! On another matter, anybody know how to get Google to notice my site? Yahoo notices it, but no… not Google :(
    Many Thanks!

    Hi Gobala -

I bought this and am using it on WP 2.5.1 but I have to diddle it whenever I add something. It’s real easy to use and it works and looks great. It’s just when I add a new link and add it sometimes it doesn’t show the keywords as links on the actual article. I’ve got it to do the right thing by going to the keyword side and turning off the keywords off and then on again. Sometimes I need to deactivate the plugin and activate it again.

I’ve learned to always go to the site and make sure the links are there after I add or change something. I like this plugin but for the price I would it to work without me needing to play with it every time I do something. What ever causes this plugin to be buggy isn’t consistent. I have several different things I do to get the links showing. Not the same each time. So it’s not cut and dry what will work each time. I always get it to work though.

I add a new link and it may work. If not I go to the keyword side even though I’m not changing the settings on that side and click save. That works sometimes. If it doesn’t I turnoff the keywords and turn them back on again. sometimes that works. If not I deactivate the plugin and activate it again. One time all that didn’t work so I went to the keyword side and clicked save and it worked. It works and it’s easy but easier if it worked every time. What’s that about anyway.

Also the sales page has more complete instructions theen you get with purchase. and for contact he just gives his website but no other contact info. Again for the price I’d expect more in that area. I could have a lot more done if it worked as smooth as advertised.

At this point it’s sort of a love hate relationship.

    Thanks - John

Sounds like a cool tool for any blogger. However, John Collins testimony shows that some things are yet to be tidied up. Thanks for sharing the info anyway. Knowledge is power.

    Hi -

I’ve been playing around with it but I haven’t ruled out the theme I’m using or WP 2.5.1 but I’ve always been able to eventually get the links working. However I had everything looking like it should and functional so I went to sleep for about 5 hrs and when I checked my site the links didn’t show and they were not functional. I went through the routine I do and they are back.

Well I just checked again and they have been up for 6 hrs. I still really like this plugin. If it would only behave.

    Hi Everybody -

I’ve been play with this plugin today for hours now and tried different combinations of settings to narrow down what area of the code is affecting this plugin. I think I have it pin pointed now but want to add a couple of links to prove it to myself.

If it is what I think it’s only a couple of extra seconds after the link is added. One extra step while at the control panel.

I will then post here again what I do to get around this and contact Pawan. I want to be able to not only say there is a problem I’m seeing but narrow it down. I want to tell him if I do a certain thing it works. It will save us both a lot of back and forth.

    I’m back -

Well the battle isn’t over yet. I sent Pawan the info I had and a description. He he kept in contact with the usual back and forth you’d expect and then I got the awaited email with the new and improved Ninja Affiliate. It was followed immediately with an email to all customers.

First of all I’m not sure that the original problem I fixed because as I was going through checking the articles and clicking on the keyword links I found a couple that didn’t work right. If I clicked on them the didn’t go to the target site but went to a related article on my site. If I right click on the keyword and click copy short cut and paste it in notepad it was the redirect url created in Ninja Affiliate. If I paste it into the browser it goes to the same article on my site and not the target destination.

I went into Ninja Affiliate and deleted that keyword etc and created it again. It still does the same thing - wrong target. So I documented it and sent it Pawan yesterday June 8th and waiting for good news.

If you would like to see what’s happening go to my site at http://www.affiliatemoneytips.com and the top article (missing it’s image) Why a keyword List Is an Affiliates Best Friend. In the text you will see in red - Hub Pages - the keyword link. If you click on it you should go to HubPages but you just go to a different article on my site - The Power of the Hub Page.

I don’t know how long it will be like that and if I get a fix I’ll use it. If you go there and it takes you to Hubpages you’ll know I got another version of Ninja Affiliate. Then I’ll run it through the ringers again.

You know it’s really a good idea to set up a private test blog where to can beat new plugins to death before you install them on a working site. I could have put up 2 new blogs and got them humming in the time I’ve spent fiddling with this one thing. Ouch! But I really like this plugin. Well, back to the drawing board.

Well we tried another fix today and it was not the fix I was looking for.

The original problem that started this appears to be fixed. But when that was corrected the new problem started.

I will say that Pawan is making regular persistent updates and has even made some improvements to Ninja Affiliate. With his dedication I’m sure he will succeed with this challenge also. This is like a staring contest between friends. Waiting to see who blinks or looks away first. He has not given up searching for a solution and I have not asked for a refund. I’ve stuck with it this far and so as long as Pawan is making reasonable progress and keeping in contact we will keep going.

Guess what? The links are working the way they should!

The links work on my site and within the plugin all appears to be well.

But don’t get to excited like I did just yet. I decided I wanted to add some new articles in as drafts but when I got to - Posts - it said - No Articles Found.

They are there they just don’t show and you can’t get to them if the plugin is activated.

If I want to have access to the articles I must first deactivate the plugin and then I can work in that area.

Of course while the plugin is down so are all the links.

Hey at least they all work when it’s activated.

Back to the drawing board. I think we started a v 1.2.2 and this was v 1.2.7

    I’ll be back.

    Hi Everyone -

    We have Ninja Affiliate success!

It is my pleasure to announce that Ninja Affiliate has been updated and works excellently. I have spent yesterday and today going through all the different set ups and all the WP admin areas and all is well. I also went into cPanel to File Manager and the error_log has no related errors.

I would also like to mention that through out this whole process that Pawan has performed the way I wish all product creators would. He addressed the issues I had in a professional timely manner. Even though he is working on other products his support was excellent. I wasn’t flooded with excuses just the facts and fixes. I would not hesitate to buy from Pawan in the future knowing what I know now. He has my respect and future business. I am looking forward to the release of Max Banner Ads. Thank you Pawan.

I would also like to thank Gobala for letting me post so many times on this topic and without censorship.

    Thanks - John
