  • Probama Theme For WordPress For Hardcore Politicians

    March 14, 2008 | By Monika Mundell |

A brand new theme that has just been released a few days ago comes just in time for all the Senator Barrack Obama supporters. It is called the Probama Theme and has been conjured up by Darren Hoyt and Matt Dawson. Darren has sent me a very nice email asking whether I was willing to showcase this theme for you guys.

Since it is timely, I figured why not. Now all you Obama friends can take this free theme and run with it. Shout your political voice to the world and let everybody know how you really feel.

The Probama WordPress Theme looks great and has many features. Control panel options include support for:

    • Feedburner
    • Flickr
    • Youtube

And there is also a handy Subcategory drop down menu. Other highlights include.

    • Custom archive pages
    • Author highlighting
    • Gravatars in comment section
    • Latest post highlighting on home page
    • Dynamic subpage menus
    • RSS integration with BarackObama.com
    • Additional print.css stylesheet

Here is how the bottom half of the Probama WordPress Theme looks like.

As you can see while looking at the demo page, there is video, podcast and images all nicely displayed on the blog. It looks great and I can’t see why it couldn’t also be used for non political uses by eliminating the Obama header graphic and replacing with something else.

Below is a view of a single post page.

All in all the theme is awesome and looks very neat. Hope some of you will grab this with both hands and have plenty of fun. I’m sure Darren would be delighted.

I HAVE A WORDPRESS ACCOUNT HOSTED BY WORDPRESS.COM BUT IT DOES NOT ALLOW ADSENSE ADDS. I STARTED MY WORDPRESS BLOG A FEW WEEKS AGO AND THE TRAFFIC HAS INCREASED BY OVER 400%. I HAD USED SOME OF YOUR TECHNIQUES FOR INCREASING BLOG TRAFFIC IN THE FREE TWO CHAPTERS THAT YOU SENT ME FROM THE ADSENSEWORDPRESS E-BOOK. BUT IT SEEMS THAT I NO OPTION OF EVER MONETERIZING THE BLOG UNLESS I SELF HOST. I THINK I’M GONNA SWITCH TO BLOGGER.

@ Ash: first things first, you are correct, you cannot use any advertising at all on the free WordPress blogs. I mentioned this many of times before here and I’m sure Gobala wouldn’t have mentioned this in conjunction with his Adsense theme ebook either.

Second, if you are serious about making money online, then you are best off going self hosted. What is a measly $7-10/month for hosting anyway?

Third, when you write comments, please don’t write them in CAPS as this indicates you are shouting (this applies everywhere on the net actually).

Blogger blogs are good to go with adsense and affiliate programs, but remember that you never own the blog since Google can take it away from you in a second.
    Hope this helps.

this is an awesomely designed theme. I’m not an Obama supporter, but the theme itself is great. The only thing I noticed was on a large screen, the flag background cuts off. It would be a bit better for it to fade out. Other then that, no complaints from me. They did a great job.

@ Mike: yeah, I love this theme too, even though I’m not into politics at all.

@ LiC: Love your suggestion and the snazzy name for the Probama competition theme. Who is keen enough to give it a go?
