In Wordpress Adsense System I mention a great deal about keyword research and why it’s important if your building blogs to be monetized with Google Adsense. However, the recent removal of the free Overture / Yahoo Keyword Research tool made it difficult for everyone to avoid paying for expensive software just to get started.
Well, when you can’t find one you create one!
I’ve recently got an OEM version of a basic but nevertheless effective keyword research tool. It isn’t as good as Keyword Elite or even Keyword Anywhere, but if you’re just looking to create a huge keyword list without all the bells and whistles, this is the tool for you.
How To Download Profit Keyword Generator
To download it simply access your members area and go to the Wordpress Adsense System download page. You should see a link for it. If you’re not a member of yet, you can sign-up via purchasing Wordpress Adsense System. If you’re an existing free member you should login to your members area first, then purchase it via the drop down menu.
Download the EXE file and install it on your computer. The program itself is very lightweight so you shouldn’t have any issues with slower PCs and laptops. It runs on Windows XP and Vista only. Again, I’m terribly sorry my dear Mac friends.

First you need to click on “Main Keyword” and enter your main keyword. In this example I entered “nintendo” as my main keyword. Then, click on “Gather Keywords” and Profit Keyword Generator gives you a complete list of keywords based on the main keyword itself. You can add as many main keywords as you want but I recommend you just use one.
Then, click on “Gather Keywords” and Profit Keyword Generator will find the total amount of search results in Google, Yahoo and MSN for the main keyword and it’s second-tier keywords. You can then save your keyword results to your PC by clicking on “Save Results”.
Keyword-Based SEO Blogging Strategy
Harvesting list of keywords is absolutely no use if you’re not going to use them properly. Even if you use the Easy Wordpress Keyword Generator, but don’t put the keywords to good use, you’re just wasting your time. Here’s what you can, and should, do with your keywords:
- Read about some of the fundamental Wordpress SEO tips as mentioned by Google and take note of the most important stuff, which is link building and having proper title tags
- Build 3-5 variations of the main keywords you want to rank for (target a less competitive keyword for an easier, happier life)
- Start submitting your blog to directories using the main keywords as the anchor text (look at our list of 600 web directories), if possible using an automation software like Directory Submitter. However, remember to do this slowly, build small amount of links at a time, or you might suffer from the Google Sandbox effect.
- The easiest way to rank for your keywords is to use a tool like 3 Way Link Exchange. Yes, you’ll have to pay for each site but it really saves the amount of time required, plus unlike directory submissions these links are exchanged “3 ways” so they appear to be unique one-way links and carry more weight than reciprocal links. The good part is that if your blog has a Google Pagerank of 4 or more, you can list it there for free. Even if you list your site there and pay the monthly fee, just keep increasing the amount of backlinks you get and eventually you end up with a PR4 blog (it’s not that hard). Then, your site will no longer be counted against your quota and you can add another one in there at no extra cost. At most you’ll pay for the first 3 months if you do it right.
- When submitting your site to social bookmarking sites, same thing – use your primary keywords and the variations. You can use a plugin like Auto Social Poster to automate your bookmarking efforts, or you can do it manually.
So the conclusion is, keyword research is important, albeit it means different things to different people. You can also buy paid traffic based on your keywords list but the bottom line is do SOMETHING with it!
For now the Keyword Generator is available for all Wordpress Adsense System users only, but will also be included in more blogging guides I’m coming up with in the near future.

A good way to get keyword suggestions is to use Google Adwords keyword tool. First, you need an Adwords account. Then start a new PPC campaign for your site and use the keyword tool to find not only keywords that people have searched on but also their relative popularities.
