Speed Bloggers Get More Done In A Day!
Blogging isn’t a racing industry. You don’t get marks for raising to blogging stardom overnight. But you do get recognition. Admittedly it feels great to be recognized by fellow bloggers for the success we achieve, whether big or small, since it justifies that we are doing something right.
But when it comes to speed I’m not referring to the speed you click in your car, but to the speed in which you engage into your business every day.
Start the day productive
Do you sometimes struggle to get going when you blog? You know, you just can’t get an idea to blog about and spend hours starring at the screen trying to find inspiration.
What do you do when that happens?
When I have writers block (oh yes I do…) I sometimes take hours to get in the zone again. Sometimes it is caused by outside distractions that weren’t planned and at other times I just can’t think of a good idea to blog about.
It is so frustrating it drives me close to insanity - well, perhaps it isn’t THAT bad.
So what do I do when that happens?
I plan ahead
Since I’ve been blogging I found that planning ahead often helps me to stay on the creative path and I run less chances of getting that dreaded writers block.
Planning ahead for me involves a mixture of media that all help to inspire me. The list below is an idea on things that might help to inspire you with blogging ideas:
- carry a notebook (Moleskine) in which you note every idea that pops into your mind
- read lots of books
- watch TV (yes, I give you permission)
- read RSS feeds
- read newspapers
- visit the movies
- listen to the radio
- read an unusual magazine you normally wouldn’t read (it helps to stretch your mind)
- add your own ideas
But what has this got to do with speed blogging?
Actually, it has everything to do with speed blogging. Let me explain why I think so. See, when we prepare ourselves well enough with ideas we can start each day on speed, fully motivated.
What this does is setting the right mood for us to get in the flow fast! The better we can manage this, the more we will get done throughout the day and therefore speed blogging is the art of getting things done early in the day.
The perfect scenario
In a perfect world we manage to get blogging out of the way first thing in the day to leave room for all the other business tasks that wait at hand. The reason we need to do this early is because blogging is a regularity for most of us.
We are all committed in some ways to blog a certain amount of times per week so it can quickly become a dreadful task for some.
By planning ahead (even scheduling your posts) you will be able to gain freedom in your business.
You will become a true speed blogger that pushes through all boundaries and excels at what you set out to do in the first place.
The best thing is yet to come
Speed blogging has given me the power to concentrate on my business growth and enjoy the wind in my hair that is a by product of my journey online. I feel like I’m driving a fast car on a long stretch of highway with the music blaring out and the sun smiling down on me.

I used to jot down blog topics ideas into my pocket pc while taking the train until i lost it. Now I just type the title’s into my Wordpress drafts and save em later when I am ready.
Great article Monika! I usually don’t struggle to think of content for my blog because I write down an idea as soon as it pops into my head. I think it’s important to avoid wasting time by staring at the screen trying to “think” of an idea. You included some nice tips to “plan ahead.”
@ Kay: great idea, I sometimes do this myself too.
@ Andrew: thank you for your nice comment. I’m glad to have helped in some way.
Great tips, thank you…
I had a blogger’s block few days back and what I did is, went back thought about my schedule and found out that I am spending more time in looking at my stats and all than thinking a lot. So I do the same thing now is, the moment idea comes into my mind, I draft it in wordpress and let it be there until I get to write around it.
@ Shuegry: you are welcome, make sure to use them for true speed.
@ LiC: there you go. That stat comment brought up some past memories as I used to do exactly the same too. Man can we waste some time doing this too.
