Spy On Your Competition With Firefox’ s Search Status
Back in February I wrote about Firebug which is one of my favourite Firefox addons. Another one that offers way more than the first glimpse is Search Status. Search Status is so cool, that it will save you hours of your time once you know what it can do for you. If you ever wanted a tool that shows you:
- Google Page Rank
- Alexa Rank
- Keyword density
- Nofollow highlighting
- Backlinks in Google, Yahoo and MSN
- Whois Info
- Wayward Archive Info
- and much more on any website you are visiting,
….then you will fall in love with Search Status if you haven’t already done so. Seriously, this cool tool is not only available as a free download by following the link above, it really gives webmasters insightful information on just about anything we would want to know for SEO purposes.
I was forever checking these things when I was buying sites which was very time consuming as I had to open several windows to get all the info I needed. With Search Status I don’t have to do half of that anymore which saves me heaps of time.
If you look at the screen shot below you’ll get a good idea on what Search Status can do.
Instead of wasting valuable time by going to Google, etc to find back links to any site you are visiting, simply right click the Search Status icon and it will tell you the same thing by opening a new window.
The tool is easy to activate/de-activate and sits unobtrusively in your browser bottom.
There is also a support site available for Search Status which is the site of the actual developer of the addon.

Neat and useful plugin for firefox. Thanks for the info, I will give it a try!!
I have been going back n forth whether I was going to get rid of IE7 and replace with Firefox I think it’s time for us to part ways. I know a friend who has it and his pages download rapidly and I have super turbo Road Runner it moves just like it says - Road Runner; but IE7 something is very different about it - the past 3 or 4 mths.
VivkiLynne - I wouldn’t give up on IE7 just yet! This toolbar is just great for Firefox, but if you like IE6 or IE7 you really need to check out this free toolbar:

It’s a VERY useful tool and especially so if you’re an Internet Marketer!

When it comes to Browsers you aren’t limited to just one. I have and use IE and Firefox and a few more. Firefox is by far the best. I use the eBay toolbar and that works on IE only. It’s also handy to have multiple browsers if you have websites. I can check to see if everything displays the way it should for visitors using different browsers.
I try to be careful when I add things like extensions and add ons but especially toolbars. There are many toolbar that look like just what the name implies but are a marketing tool designed to include you in instant marketing messages from the maker or his group. It is sometime difficult to remove some. I had one that had uninstall as an option but after you unistalled it and restarted the browser it would reinstall. I went into control panel and opened Add/Remove programs and it wasn’t there. The toolbar maker said it would be there as a second path for removal but it wasn’t. Needless to say it took more work to finally kill that thing.
So make sure it is a approved or recommended by the browser home site or from some body you can trust like Gobala before you add it to your browser. Especially Toolbars.
