What Have You Done For YOU Lately?

Are you on track with your plans this year so far? Or has your new years resolution taken a sharp town turn – once again? I’m just re-reading one of my favorite books “Think and Grow Rich” by Napoleon Hill. Whenever I pick up this book my sense of personal power increases another notch and I feel in my heart that I too can be very successful and achieve all of my dreams.

think and grow rich

The secret to success is contained throughout that book and while reading it I have many “aha” moments. The journey we take starts with all but a simple step and unless we take that step, nothing will ever happen.

The road to success is also littered with many failures as I can personally attest. But does this stop me from trying – hell no!

While reading the book I had this thought flash through my mind in regards to putting things into action. While I struggle like the rest of us to get everything done I want to, I do take massive action is some parts of my business. This action has resulted in me working very hard for the past 6 month and now I am fully independent and work from home with a full time income.

Was it easy? No way – it was hard work, often inconvenient and full of my own mistakes. But I’ve arrived where I wanted to be in July this year 6 month early. This is prove enough that we can do whatever we set out to do if we only try and work for it.

How is your year progressing?

Two month ago some of you would have made promises to yourself. Promises of losing weight, exercising more, devoting more time to your blog, starting a home business, finding your dream job, sacking your boss, etc.

How is your progress?

Are you on track, or has life gotten in the way of your dreams? The point of this post is to show you that it can be done. I’m no better than any of you. I’m just a normal person trying to live my dreams and having fun in my life.

I also don’t mean for this to sound condescending as this is the furthest thing from my mind.

But what I hope to achieve is to help you see that you need to work toward your goals and dreams. They don’t just come by with chance or a good portion of luck. Sometimes luck does help, but only after we have made changes to our habits and the way we put forth our dreams and aspirations.

Sticking to the plan

One reason while so many people fail to achieve success in their life is because they neglect the plan. Let me put it this way: did you stick to what you promised you would do back in January as part of your new years resolution?

Or did you neglect your own chances at success by neglecting yourself?

Excuses. Fear. Haste. Misconceptions. Greed. Laziness.

What these words have in common is that they all stop you from owing what is rightfully yours. We fall prey to those nasty little “worms” that creep into our subconscious and stop us dead in our tracks – only to never progress anywhere in particular.

Then when another year has passed we wonder what happened to us and why we aren’t successful yet.

Please think about this. You owe it to yourself!

This week my focus was a little off cos I am guitar hunting.:) But so far I am making progress..not monetary but mentally. I believe things will only start moving when you change the way you think.

Awesome book! I need to dig up mine again.

This post is certainly different than what I read here everyday. Nice one, made me introspect today.

What helps keep me focused is reminding myself each day of a specific goal that I am working to accomplish. Each night before I go to bed and when waking up each morning, I visualize my goals to keep myself focused. I honestly think that “success” comes from simply “performing good habits” each day. Nice article Monika, it was very refreshing to read ;)

Chances are if I neglect myself it’s a matter of my mental disorder getting the better of me, and an opportunity to get back on track.

Better to take two steps forward, fall back one to then get back up and try taking another two without falling.

You’ll either succeed or die trying…but it’s guaranteed we’ll all succeed in dying. Die trying most of the time to succeed.

@ Everyone: thanks for the great comments. Yeah, Life is Colourful this post certainly differs a little but I’m big on personal development and figure it can’t hurt to mention it every now and then. :-)

Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill had an immense impact on my life when starting out on my work from home quest. Great idea to re-read it for a renewed round of inspiration in order to overcome obstacles and keep on track.
