InstantUpgrade is a plugin which will perform automatic upgrades to the latest wordpress version, or you can upgrade to a version of your choice. The plugins downloads the chosen wordpress version, unpacks it, deletes the old files and inserts the new ones. All these actions don’t required funky PHP extensions – all this are handled by the plugin.
This plugin might be of interest for you if you installed wordpress for a friend or a customer with no knowledge of FTP, PHP and MySQL. But of course, everybody else will surely appreciate easy and instant upgrades.

Updated January 09 WARNING: You don’t need this plugin anymore, with WP2.7 and above you can upgrade automatically from within the dashboard. Using this depreceated plugin can cause problems on your blog, and the plugin site seems to be abandoned, so don’t use it!

Finally someone is brave enough to attemp the unattempted. This is huge opportunity for anyone who like to commercialize this plugin, since there is a real need for this, but none available. Thanks for the heads up!
