WP-O-Matic RSS Feeds Plugin

Wp-o-matic is a wordpress plugin that will allow you to create posts automatically from feeds.

It has a very simple interface, just ype in the feed url, choose which categories you want to create the post and you’re set to go.

Other similar type of software might cost you more, but with its own unique feature, wp-o-matic does stands out and worth trying.

Among the build-in features

  • Multiple feeds / categories: it’s possible to add as many feeds as you want, and add them to as many categories as you want. It’s not obstrusive, so you can also write your own posts to any of those categories.
  • Every form of XML syndication supported. This includes RSS 0.91 and RSS 1.0 formats, the popular RSS 2.0 format, and the emerging Atom.
  • Unix cron and Wordpress cron jobs For maximum performance, you can make the RSS fetching process be called by a Unix cron job, or simply let Wordpress handle it.
  • Comfortable interface. The admin is powered by a state of the art ajaxy interface that lets you handle your feeds with ease. When it comes out of beta, WP-o-Matic will support:
  • Images caching/resizing Optionally host the images yourself, or resize them to fit your blog design.
  • Words Rewriting. Want to replace the word “Poker” with “Texas Hold’em”? We’ll have it covered
  • Words Relinking. Define custom links for words you specify.
  • Post templating. Define a global header and footer for the posts, or even for a specific feed.
  • Advanced Filters. Just drop a file in the filters/ folder, and every time a post is created, a custom function can be called. You can modify the post content or do some other action, like emailing your mother.

I find it unbelievable to see that this plugin is available freely. thumbs up to the developer.

WPOM is duplicating the posts it pulls in
– not just once, but multiple times.

So on my blog#2 I now have about 12
copies of a post from my blog#1.

Has anyone found a fix for this?

Or is there a setting I am messing up?

Images caching/resizing Optionally host the images yourself, or resize them to fit your blog design.

How do i actually change the image size. Im importing via a flickr rss feed and they come in at a set size. I want them to fill the max width of my content area..

Does anyone have an idea?

thanks

Tried it with WP 2.5. Plugin installed without problems, ran through all the checks just fine. But it can’t parse any RSS feeds I tried (I even tried Slashdot’s just as a test).

Hi Krishnan, that’s really a wonderful plugin. I successfully implemented on the devserver.

But one thing I am really in need is, how to link to the source URL. There is an option in “Options” tab to “link title to source”. This is linking in Similar Posts and others which is really a pain.

Can you let me know how to fix this?

I was trying to replace “the_permalink” with “wpo_sourcepermalink” in the below code in Single Post Template.

<blockquote cite=”<a id=”post-” href=”" rel=”bookmark” title=”Permanent Link to “>“>

I am so thankful for this plugin, Krishanan.

Cheers
Rajesh

Hi there – first off WP-0-Matic rocks!

However, I’d like to remove the Email, Bookmark options and the white space from the bottom of the post.
Any thoughts anyone?

Thanks in advance!
Pete

Here’s the solution: spend some money and get a domain name plus hosting. You can’t expect to use stuff like this on free wordpress blogs.

Dear friend,
I too have made a similar but better plugin called YAAB-Autoblogger. Yaab has all features of wp-o-matic and in addition it can create automatic blog carnivals in your site. Also it supports SMS blogging and Youtube cloning. Ebay product syndication and automated content rewriting are upcoming features. After all I myself is a doctor ( not a programmer ). I started making this plugin for my personal use, but when I doveloped it, it was highly impressing and I have planned to release it for public. Kindly download it from http://www.psypo.com/yaab , try it and if possible please review it in your valuable blog
Thank You
Satheesh

I have commented on Guillermo’s site about the problem of wp-o-matic and its annoying duplicate posts. But HE KEEPS DELETING my comments! Now it’s not just a duplicate… it’s multiple duplicates. 5 or 6 posts. Every morning I spend deleting these post.

He also has a new realease for it. the 1.5 but it’s not going to fix the multiple duplicate posts. And word has it that there is really no 1.5 release. If there is there are probably more bugs in it than the old one and that’s why it can’t be released yet.

My mom used to say: If you can’t do it right don’t do it at all because all you do is waste people’s time. I spend my morning deleting duplicate posts.

Thanks Guillermo for a WONDERFUL plug-in.
