Wordpress Upgrade Tips
With the recent security release of wordpress 2.1.1 and 2.0.9, I believe a lot of wordpress users might come up with the idea to take up the step to upgrade their existing wordpress or it could be that some might be hesitate to do so.
No matter what, here are some consideration for those who already have this in their ToDo list.
- Are you experience enough to do the upgrade? If you have not done the upgrading before, things might mess up which I presume it is not what you have in mind. Get some help from experience users or you can do a self test offline to get a hang of things before putting into test on the real thing.
- Will the upgrade be beneficial? Some people are upgrading because they are after for the additional feature (for developer most of the time) or maybe it could help to fix those bug that have being bothering you for quite some time. Than you should definitely upgrade.
- Got a handful of plugin with your present config? Be sure to check your plugin compatibility. Once the process have being done it is reversable, unless you’re pretty clear on what have being done before and after the upgrade.
- The process might took some of your precious time, depends on your level of expertise. Some people took at least a week to get everything done. Not to mentioned some try and error, troubleshooting for possible error…etc.
- Make sure you have all the guide and manuals around for reference, just in case something could go wrong. Speaking of this, upgrading is not that difficult actually, whereas you just need to be cautious and follow the instruction properly.
I’m sure there is more thing to this, let see what the readers think of this. past experience and tips are most appreciated.
Enjoy!!
